Baptist pastor, Carl Smith, Charged With Solicitation of Prostitution

Baptist Pastor Carl Smith was Pastor Arrested During Prostitution StingGREER, S.C. -- An Upstate pastor was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution, Greer police said.

Carl Smith is pastor of River Road Baptist Church. He was arrested last week in Greer during a prostitution sting.

Greer police Lt. Jim Holcombe said, “We were working that day and he approached one of our females on the street and did enough to where he was arrested. Again, he was not convicted, but arrested on these charges. He was booked in and came to our jail and released on his own recognizance."

"They have to say enough and do enough where they are arrested for solicitation of prostitution. They have to be specific in what they ask for and they have to offer money for what they ask for," he said.

In the arrest report, Smith listed his place of employment as Redeeming The Time Inc.

On the Redeeming The Time website, it says they "seek to transform negative, abusive relationships into positive, constructive ones by combining time-honored Judeo-Christian/Biblical teaching with the best insights that Psychology and Sociology have to offer to guide clients in managing their emotions and their relationships."

Smith is listed as the founder, president and lead instructor on the website.

The website also says Smith is an ordained Christian minister, has more than 11 years experience as a pastor, and more than 18 years experience as a family preservation therapist, Department of Social Services foster care case manager/supervisor, family violence intervention program facilitator, and franchise consultant for a major national company.
