Pastor Roland Lee Smith Jr, Alvarado Baptist Temple, was arrested on two counts of indecency with a childAlvarado police arrested the Rev. Roland Lee Smith Jr., pastor of an Alvarado church on Saturday on two counts of indecency with a child, according to an arrest warrant filed by the Alvarado Police Department.

Both children involved are younger than 17, according to the affidavit. The children, both girls, made outcries that Smith touched them and made inappropriate remarks. The events occurred over a number of years stretching back to 2007 and 2009 respectively, according to the affidavit.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Ronny McBroom magistrated Smith, 56, over the weekend and set his bond at $50,000 on each count.

McBroom issued an emergency protective order prohibiting Smith from being released from jail for 48 hours after posting bond or contacting or visiting the residence of the girls for 91 days.

McBroom also attached a special sexual conditions of bond, which prohibits Smith from having contact with or living with anyone younger than 17 without written court approval. The condition also bars Smith, absent written court approval, from visiting libraries, shopping malls, sporting events and other locations where children younger than 17 are likely to be.

McBroom said he issued the EPO because, should Smith contact either victim, it allows the court to arrest him immediately on the violation. Should Smith visit a library, mall or other prohibited location, on the other hand, a court hearing would be required before he could be arrested, McBroom said.

Smith remains jailed at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center.

Smith serves as pastor at Alvarado Baptist Temple, according to the affidavit. Attempts to reach the church for comment were unsuccessful.
