Pentacostal preacher Joe David Bray told the officer, “You’re gonna pay when you’re judged and I’m going to tell God how much of a fucking asshole you are you motherfuckerCHICKASHA, Okla.—Authorities are usually prepared for pulling over intoxicated drivers around the holidays, but officers were surprised by exactly who was behind the wheel last week.

Police were called to the area of Oklahoma and Fourth St. in Chickasha after witnesses reported seeing a truck recklessly speeding through a neighborhood.

Spotting the vehicle was easy for officers but making the arrest was a tough job.

Authorities say the events leading up the arrest were homophobic slurs, foul language paired with verbal and physical assaults.

Officers say the man behind the wheel was 46-year-old Joe David Bray, a Pentecostal preacher.

“Initially the officer noticed that the vehicle he was driving was speeding. He ultimately ran a stop sign and that’s when the officer initiated the traffic stop,” said Assistant Grady County District Attorney Courtnie Cain. “He proceeded to do a field sobriety test, which he did not do well on. He refused to take a breathalyzer and that’s when he was placed under arrest.”

Police reports say Bray told the officer, “Yeah, maybe I was going 5 mph over but I’m a local. I was born and raised in Chickasha.”

The report also says Bray reached into his glove compartment and sprayed himself with a bottle of Axe body spray.

Authorities say when he was arrested, Bray told the officer, “You’re gonna pay when you’re judged and I’m going to tell God how much of  a fucking asshole you are you motherfucker.”

“When the subject was placed in the backseat of the car, he tried to kick the window out and what he ended up doing was damaging the frame part of the back door of one of our patrol cars,” said Major Elip Moore with the Chickasha Police Department. “It’s made pretty well and if the average person goes and tries to kick this, they wouldn't do any damage at all. So there was a lot of force that went into creating that kind of damage to that car.”

Bray was charged with three misdemeanors and one felony for assaulting an officer when he allegedly hit the officer in the face with his elbow.
